Overview

VisiAI is a Shopify embedded app that helps merchants improve their store's visibility in AI-powered search engines. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is protected.

What data we collect

  • Shop domain — used to identify your store and associate your settings with your account.
  • Product titles and descriptions — fetched via the Shopify Admin API to score content quality and generate AI-optimised rewrites. We do not store full product catalogues permanently; data is processed on demand.
  • AI usage counts — we track how many AI rewrites your shop has used per month to enforce plan limits. No content of rewrites is retained beyond your session unless you choose to apply it.
  • Schema injection records — we log which products have had Schema.org JSON-LD injected so you can track coverage.
  • robots.txt audit results — we record which AI crawlers are allowed or blocked on your store.
  • AI traffic events — anonymised referral source data (e.g. “ChatGPT”, “Perplexity”) to power your traffic dashboard. No customer identifiers are stored.

What we do NOT collect

  • Customer names, emails, or any personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Customer order history or payment data
  • Browsing behaviour of individual shoppers
  • Any data from stores other than your own

How data is stored

All data is stored on Railway-hosted infrastructure using PostgreSQL with encryption at rest. Data is transmitted over HTTPS at all times. We do not sell or share your data with third parties, except for the OpenAI API which receives sanitised product descriptions (HTML-stripped, truncated to 800 characters) solely to generate content rewrites. OpenAI's data retention policies apply to those requests; see openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Data retention

  • All shop data is deleted within 48 hours of app uninstall via Shopify's shop/redact GDPR webhook.
  • Customer data requests and redaction requests are processed immediately upon receipt of Shopify's GDPR webhooks.
  • Session tokens are deleted immediately on uninstall.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time by uninstalling the app or contacting us directly. Shopify merchants in the EU/EEA have additional rights under GDPR including access, rectification, and portability of your data.
